Recently, the World Steel Association released a message that in the past year, the public's resistance to plastic products began to spread around the world. In addition, the world's first folding stainless steel straws developed and produced by American company Final Straw were put on the market earlier this year. The era of plastic straws seems to be coming to an end soon. It is understood that in 2019, Final Straw will also launch a new product line called Foreverables, which produces products designed to replace disposable tableware.

With a lifespan of up to 15 years, Final Straw straws are reusable, hygienic, corrosion resistant, portable and easy to clean. In October 2017, Final Straw founders Emma Cohen and Miles Pepper proposed the idea of developing and producing folding stainless steel straws for sustainable development and improved portability of metal straws. In March 2018, they launched a crowd funding project on Kick starter (US crowd funding website) with the goal of raising $125,000. However, during the 30-day crowd funding period, the project raised $1.89 million in funding and became part of the global sustainability movement. After more than eight months, the first batch of stainless steel straws developed and produced by Final Straw was put on the market.

According to the Kick starter website, a Final Straw straw can reduce 584 plastic straws into a landfill or ocean.
