What is the role of converter slag in the steel making process?
Aug. 13, 2018
The role of converter slag in steel making:
(1) removal of P and S in molten metal;
(2) reduction of erosion of refractory materials;
(3) creation of favorable conditions for decarburization of dispersed metal droplets;
(4) Prevent a large amount of heat loss, prevent the oxygen flow from strongly impacting the molten pool; reduce metal splashing;
(5) prevent the molten steel from absorbing harmful gases;
(6) adsorb foreign and intrinsic fine non-metallic inclusions.
