On January 11, the Sixth Member Conference of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association was held in Beijing. The Party Secretary and Chairman of Jiangsu Shagang Group was elected as the 2020 rotating chairman of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association.

Shen Bin expressed his high respect and heartfelt thanks to the hard work of previous presidents and the unremitting efforts of the majority of member units. On behalf of the association, he made the following comments on the development of the industry:

First, the majority of member companies should work together to promote the more stable operation of the industry. More stable operation is reflected in the product side, and the other is in the raw material side. The product side is to make a fuss about strictly controlling the excessive increase of production capacity and preventing new excess. The focus of the raw material side is the healthy and stable operation of the iron ore market. It is necessary to form a joint force to resist monopoly speculation and improve transaction transparency, and to further accelerate the improvement of the trade mechanism.

Second, the majority of member companies must make more practical efforts in promoting higher quality development. Higher quality development is the only way to achieve a steel power. We must actively adapt to the new requirements put forward by the development of the steel industry in the new era, and play a leading role in implementing national industrial policies, accelerating process technology innovation, deepening the integration of the two industries, promoting intelligent manufacturing, achieving green development, and domestic substitution of high-end materials. Accelerate the pace of structural adjustment and promote the steel industry to move towards the mid-to-high end of the global value chain.

Thirdly, the majority of member companies should redouble their efforts in promoting the development and growth of the association. The Iron and Steel Association plays a very important role in implementing national industrial policies, promoting supply-side structural reforms, and promoting the smooth operation of the industry. Shagang will do its best to fulfill the various responsibilities of the rotating chairman unit, fully support the development of the association, give full play to its functions, provide good services, and vigorously promote the information exchange, resource sharing, and exchange and mutual learning between steel companies. To earnestly fulfill the membership obligations, actively assume the membership responsibilities, complete related work as required, further build and develop the association, and continue to make new and greater efforts.
