In June, 2020 global crude steel production fell 7.0% year-on-year

On July 23, the World Steel Association (WSA) released data on global crude steel production for June. In June, the global crude steel output of 64 countries and regions included in the World Steel Association statistics was 148.3 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7.0%.
In June, crude steel production in Asia was 113 million tons, down 2.3% year-on-year; crude steel production in the EU was 10.16 million tons, down 24.6% year-on-year; crude steel production in North America was 6.65 million tons, down 32.2% year-on-year; crude steel production in South America The output was 2.56 million tons, down 30.4% year-on-year; the crude steel output in the Middle East was 3.26 million tons, down 8.5% year-on-year; the crude steel output in the CIS was 7.95 million tons, down 5.0% year-on-year.
In the first half of 2020, global crude steel production was 873.1 million tons, down 6.0% year-on-year. Crude steel production in Asia was 642 million tons, down 3.0% year-on-year. Crude steel production in the EU was 68.27 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 18.7%. Crude steel production in North America was 50.16 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 17.6%. The CIS crude steel output was 48.92 million tons, down 4.1% year-on-year.
From the perspective of key countries and regions, in June, crude steel production in Mainland China was 91.58 million tons, an increase of 4.5% year-on-year; crude steel production in India was 6.92 million tons, down 26.3% year-on-year; Japan’s crude steel output was estimated at 5.6 million tons , A year-on-year decrease of 36.3%; South Korea’s crude steel output was 5.1 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.3%. Among EU countries, Germany estimated crude steel production at 2.48 million tons, down 27.3% year-on-year; Italy's crude steel output was 1.81 million tons, down 13.0% year-on-year; France estimated crude steel production at 836,000 tons, down 34.9% year-on-year; Spain's crude steel production was 834,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 31.5%. US crude steel production was 4.75 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 34.5%. Russia estimates crude steel production at 5.6 million tons, down 7.6% year-on-year; Ukrainian crude steel production is 1.81 million tons, up 9.0% year-on-year. Brazil's crude steel output was 2.1 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 27.1%. Turkish crude steel production was 2.8 million tons, an increase of 4.1% year-on-year.
