In December 1949, at the first National Steel Conference, Zhu De, Zhou Enlai, Chen Yun and other older founding fathers decided to build a steel base in Baotou, Inner Mongolia. In 1954, Baotou Steel was established; in 1959, Prime Minister Zhou Enlai visited Baotou Steel to cut the ribbon for No. 1 blast furnace. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China. It is also the 65th anniversary of Baotou Steel and the 60th anniversary of Baotou Steel. As the first steel base for the construction of ethnic minority areas in China's border areas, Baotou Steel is of great significance to China's frontier stability, national unity and progress, and industrial layout optimization. For more than 60 years, Baotou Steel has gone through the development process from scratch and from small to large, and now it has reached a scale of 16.5 million tons of steel production capacity.
