The UK issues an announcement on the transitional review of safeguard measures for imported steel products

On October 8, 2020, the WTO Safeguards Committee released the safeguards notification submitted by the British delegation. On October 1, 2020, at the request of the Secretary of State for International Trade, the United Kingdom initiated an investigation into safeguard measures against imported steel products (Certain Steel Products), and reviewed Greenwich on December 31, 2020. At 23:00, after the British "Brexit" transition period ends, whether the British safeguard measures for steel products should be adjusted, postponed or cancelled. The British investigation agency is expected to make a final decision before June 30, 2021.
Stakeholders should register to respond within 10 days from the date of filing the case, and submit answers within 30 days after receiving the questionnaire; during the investigation period, stakeholders can log on to the website of the British Remedy and Investigation Agency http://www.trade-remedies. service.gov.uk submits an application for a hearing. On March 26, 2018, the European Commission issued an announcement to initiate an investigation of safeguard measures against imported steel products. On January 4, 2019, the World Trade Organization (WTO) Safeguards Committee issued an announcement that the EU decided to impose a 25% safeguard tax on additional imported steel products before February 4, 2019. The case involved EU CN (Common Nomenclature) codes 7208 10 00, 7209 15 00, 7209 16 10, 7210 20 00, 7210 70 80, 7209 18 99, 7208 51 20, 7219 11 00, 7219 31 00, 7214 30 00, 7214 20 00, 7222 11 11, 7221 00 10, 7213 10 00, 7216 31 10, 7301 10 00, 7306 30 41, 7306 61 10, 7304 11 00, 7304 51 12, 7305 11 00, 7306 11 10, and 7217 10 Steel products under Class 10. On February 14, 2020, the European Commission issued an announcement, deciding to initiate a second review of the EU steel product safeguard measures.
