The domestic scrap steel market runs steadily and on the strong side (September 4th to September 10th)
Sep. 22, 2021
Last week, the domestic steel scrap market operated steadily and on the strong side. Entering September, demand for finished products is improving, boosting the scrap steel market. The delivery volume of scrap steel from steel mills has decreased, the inventory is low, and the purchase price has been raised slightly. Compared with the previous week, the average purchase price of scrap for key steel companies has increased by 23 yuan/ton for heavy scrap, 14 yuan/ton for medium-sized scrap, and 11 yuan/ton for aggregate scrap.
In order to implement the requirements of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to "resolutely reduce crude steel output and ensure a year-on-year decline in crude steel output", measures to reduce output by large and medium-sized steel companies in the second half of the year have been gradually rolled out, and scrap consumption has decreased accordingly. From January to July The unit consumption of comprehensive steel scrap is 235.4 kg/ton, of which the unit consumption of converter scrap is 180.8 kg/ton and the unit consumption of electric furnace scrap is 671 kg/ton. Although the unit consumption of scrap steel has dropped significantly, the shortage of social resources has not been significantly eased, and industry insiders expect that scrap prices will continue to rise steadily in the short term.
Scrap prices in East China have risen slightly, and most merchants adopt a fast-forward and fast-out operation strategy, and the steel mills can receive the goods. The purchase price of Nangang's heavy scrap steel is 3750 yuan/ton, an increase of 80 yuan/ton; the purchase price of Shagang's heavy scrap steel is 3840 yuan/ton; the purchase price of Xingcheng Special Steel's heavy scrap steel is 3920 yuan/ton; the purchase price of Maanshan Iron and Steel's ordinary heavy scrap steel The purchase price of Tongling Fuxin's heavy scrap steel is 3850 yuan/ton; the bidding price of Laiwu Steel's steel bar briquettes is 4150 yuan/ton, which is raised by 50 yuan/ton; Xiwang Metal's fine heavy-duty purchase The price is 3950 yuan/ton, an increase of 70 yuan/ton; Ningbo Iron & Steel's September heavy scrap purchase base price was 3616 yuan/ton.
The scrap steel market in Central China is operating steadily and strongly. Steel mills are highly motivated to produce and willing to purchase. However, market resources are tight and steel mills have poorly received goods. Angang's heavy scrap purchase price is 3930 yuan/ton, an increase of 60 yuan/ton; Wugang heavy scrap purchase price is 4130 yuan/ton; Valin Henggang's first-level qualified material purchase price is 3760 yuan/ton.
The scrap steel market in southern China is operating steadily and consolidating, and environmental inspections are gradually starting, some steel mills have stopped collecting, and the demand for resources has declined. The purchase price of Sangang Minguang heavy-duty scrap is 3870 yuan/ton, and the cash-to-factory price of Shaogang's heavy-duty second-class scrap is 3570 yuan/ton.
The mainstream scrap market prices in the southwestern region are stable with individual adjustments, market resources are tight, stocks in processing bases are low, and steel mills' arrivals are average. The heavy-duty No. 1 scrap of Chongqing Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. is 3540 yuan/ton excluding tax; the purchase price of Kunming Iron and Steel's heavy-duty scrap is 4,040 yuan/ton, an increase of 102 yuan/ton.
The scrap steel market in Northwestern China is operating smoothly, with steel mills producing normally and generally arriving, with a slight decrease in inventory. The purchase price of Xining Special Steel's medium-sized first qualified material is 3870 yuan/ton, and the purchase price of Jiuquan Steel's heavy scrap steel is 3,411 yuan/ton.
The scrap steel market in the Northeast region is weakly consolidating, steel mills have increased overhauls, scrap demand has fallen, and merchants have accelerated their shipments. The purchase price of Linggang's heavy scrap steel is 3780 yuan/ton; the purchase price of Jianlong Xigang's heavy scrap steel is 3645 yuan/ton, which is increased by 80 yuan/ton; Anshan Iron and Steel has not purchased scrap steel yet; Fushun Special Steel's heavy scrap purchase price is 3740 yuan/ton .
