In recent years, in the face of the increasingly severe energy conservation and environmental protection situation, the development concept of China's steel industry has undergone a fundamental change. The traditional concept of pollution control in the past has been transformed into clean production, environmental protection and green manufacturing. "Development, capacity expansion" is transformed into "decrease, upgrade" development, but this reduction is not development, but is to promote green development in the stage of reduction and development, and accelerate the creation of intensive use of land, production cleanliness, waste recycling , low-carbon energy and other characteristics of the green plant. Nowadays, a large number of garden-style factories, cleaner production and environment-friendly factories have emerged, and many factories have "face value explosions." On August 23, 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the first list of green manufacturing system demonstrations. A total of 201 companies were rated as green factories, including 17 steel companies. On February 23 this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the second batch of demonstration lists for green manufacturing systems. A total of 208 companies were rated as green factories, including 11 steel companies. The steel industry has made remarkable achievements in the exploration of green manufacturing.

In 2017, China dismantled its excess steel production capacity by 55 million tons, together with 65 million tons in 2016. In two years, the excess steel production capacity exceeded 120 million tons. At the same time, in 2017, China banned the production of 140 million tons of “Grid Steel” in accordance with regulations and completely eliminated the chronic diseases that plagued the healthy development of the steel industry. This not only enabled the domestic steel production capacity to be better played, but also restored the utilization rate of steel production in China to a reasonable level. It also saved a lot of resources and energy, and drastically reduced pollutant emissions.
