Southeast Asian steel pipe demand market
Jun. 11, 2018
In terms of demand, countries in Southeast Asia have started relatively late and their economic foundations have generally been relatively weak.
In particular, the development of the steel industry has lagged behind. However, in recent years, with the continuous deepening of economic globalization and the continuous adjustment of the global industrial chain, the cheap labor resources and other factors in Southeast Asia have attracted large amounts of investment, which has accelerated the process of industrialization in the region, and has met the needs of the domestic industry.
The rapid development of the manufacturing and processing industries, which mainly meet the demand for foreign exports, has driven the continuous growth of steel demand. It is estimated that the ASEAN 10 countries (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia) will need 70 million tons of steel in 2017, and it is expected to increase to 80 million tons in 2018.
