On January 23, Baosteel Engineering signed two water treatment projects of Philippine Asia Steel Group. The Newkaka water treatment project will adopt the newly assembled integrated three-dimensional water station technology developed by Baosteel Engineering.
On January 30th, Hegang Steel was produced by Italian Fiat Auto Company under the brand name FEP04, and the 150-ton high-end automobile outer panel with a width of 1740 mm and a thickness of 0.7 mm was off the assembly line.
On February 2nd, Baosteel's mining LCA (Life Cycle Assessment System), which was participated in 2017, won the annual LCA nomination award of the World Steel Association, becoming the second Chinese steel enterprise to receive this honor after Baosteel.
On February 8th, Taigang successfully obtained an order for the glass curtain wall stainless steel support plate of 100 Bishopsgate Building, London, England.
On February 23rd, Nangang Group won the order of 27,600 tons of shipboards for the LNG (liquefied natural gas) construction vessel of the Sino-Russian cooperation Yamal project.
On March 5th, Gary Davies, General Manager of Steel, Global Purchasing Department of Caterpillar Inc., a leading company in the world's construction machinery industry, awarded Hegang Steel and Steel a global “Qualified Supplier” sign for 2017.
On March 6th, Angang won the bid for the bridge steel of Sweden Slussen Bridge. On May 21, Anshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. won the bid for the first batch of more than 3,000 tons of steel plates in the 30,000-ton bridge steel contract of the German Rhine Bridge.
On March 19th, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled that it decided to terminate the "337 anti-monopoly investigation" of the plaintiff US Steel Corporation on Chinese steel. So far, the Chinese have won all the three anti-monopoly, theft of trade secrets and the fictitious origin of the "337 investigations".
On March 27th, Baotou Steel and the Fives Group jointly formulated the 2018 technical cooperation plan.
On March 26th, the Malaysian Kuantan United Steel No. 1 blast furnace, which was designed and supplied by MCC Sadi, was successfully ignited.
On April 10th, in the 12th China Steelmaking Challenge World Finals held in Mumbai, India, Hegang employee Tang Xiaoyu won the professional group crown, and Hegang won the world championship finals in the simulated steelmaking challenge.
On April 17th, Angang won a contract for more than 5,600 tons of civilian ball flat steel for a hull construction project in Brazil, which was built by CIMC Raffles.
On April 20, Nangang and Japan THK agreed to cooperate exclusively to develop steel for robots.
On May 16th, Baotou Steel and Baoli Huayue and South Korea's Samsung products signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the sale of the exclusive products of Samsung Products in Guangzhou.
On May 18th, the No. 2 blast furnace of Formosa Plastics Vietnam Hejing Iron and Steel Plant was successfully put into operation, marking the successful completion of two 4350 cubic meters blast furnace projects.
On June 6, at 16:16 local time in Malaysia, the Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group and Guangxi Shenglong Metallurgical Co., Ltd. invested and the MCC Group realized the overall design and equipment supply of 3.5 million tons of joint steel plant. No. blast furnace successfully ignited.
On June 7, Rio Tinto and China Minmetals Corporation signed an exploration joint venture agreement.
On June 26th, the Singapore standard rebar produced by Yonggang passed the test of Singapore and UK CARES certification bodies and obtained the third-party certification certificate of Singapore standard rebar.
On July 10th, the Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge, which was exclusively supplied by Anshan Iron and Steel, won the highest award of the International Bridge Conference (IBC), the George Richardson Award.
On July 13, Tiangong International received a notice that the European Commission will hold an investigation hearing on the import of steel products safeguard measures, and Tiangong International will be eligible for the hearing. On October 19th, Tiangong International received an official email from the European Commission, confirming that it responded to the EU's "double-reverse" case (primary ruling) and became the first enterprise in China's special steel industry to respond to the "double-reverse" success.
On July 19th, 160 high-speed wheels of Maanshan Iron and Steel with a speed of 320 kilometers per hour were successfully delivered to the German railway company Wittenberg base, which will soon be loaded.
On July 24, Shougang's head of listed company in Hong Kong issued a notice saying that Orix Asia Capital Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the world's top 500 Orix Group, was a major shareholder with a subscription of approximately 6.3%.
On July 31, Shougang's 10 million tons of concentrate expansion project was completed. This is the first project of the “Belt and Road” initiative to land in Latin America.
On August 31, the Belizean foreign ship “Yinhehai” successfully berthed at No. 3 berth of China Baowu Wugang Port Foreign Trade Terminal Co., Ltd. in Wuhan, Hubei Province. This is the first foreign ship docked by WISCO Logistics Foreign Trade Terminal on August 10, 2018 to resume the national first-class open port and follow the direct export business on August 11.
On September 2, Hegang ranked first among steel companies in the 2018 “Top 100 Chinese Multinational Companies” published by the China Enterprise Confederation and the China Entrepreneur Association.
On September 3, Yonggang and the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences signed a framework for talent introduction.
On September 21, at the third meeting of the Industrial Cooperation Subcommittee of the China-Russia Prime Ministers' Regular Meeting Committee, Kunming Iron & Steel Holding Co., Ltd. and the Russian CIS Titanium Association signed the "High-end Titanium Alloy Casting Equipment Manufacturing Cooperation Agreement" and "Titanium Contract for the Cooperation of Import and Export of Spherical Titanium Powder Preparation Equipment for Alloy Additives.
On October 16th, Hegang Xuanhua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. tailored the 196-ton 8.2-meter special-size S355JR angle steel to a customer. The product will be used in a power project in Pakistan along the “Belt and Road”.
On October 16th, the German freight train joist developed by Laiwu Branch of Shangang Steel Co., Ltd. successfully passed the product certification and obtained the “passport” for the product to enter the German Federal Railway Project.
On October 17, the president of the Steel Association, the secretary of the Party Committee of Hegang and the chairman of the board, Yu Yong was elected as the new leader of the World Steel Association.
On October 23, Yonggang and Germany Baden Steel Engineering Co., Ltd. reached a strategic cooperation intention on two professional management projects, such as DRS lost management system and fluid dynamics model design of dust removal system.
From November 5th to 10th, the first China International Import Expo was held at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center. The performance of the steel companies was very eye-catching and staged a gorgeous “Steel Season”. China Baowu, Hegang, Anshan Iron and Steel, Benxi Steel and Baotou Steel signed a large number of cooperation agreements with foreign iron ore giants and steel equipment technology giants respectively.
On November 6th, the S355N Z25, S460N Z25 and S460M Z25 structural steel plates independently developed and produced by Shagang were sent to Croatia for the Pelešat Bridge leg manufacturing project.
On November 20, Shagang signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Primetals Metallurgical Technology Co., Ltd.
On December 6, Maanshan Axle Division won the title of “Best Supplier” by BHP Billiton.
On December 24th, the vehicles on the Haro Grand Bridge in Norway, which was just opened to traffic, the nearly 8,000 tons of high-grade bridge steel supplied by Anshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. propped up the bridge of the largest span suspension bridge in the Arctic Circle.
