International Metals and Steel Exhibition focuses on Posco's cutting-edge steel products
Nov. 14, 2018
From October 31st to November 2nd, the 5th International Metal and Steel Exhibition (SMK2018) was held in South Korea under the theme of “Developing the Future of High-Performance Steel and Non-Ferrous Metals”. South Korea's Posco has demonstrated its cutting-edge steel products at the exhibition.
Ultra-high strength steel and ultra-light steel materials are one of the main concerns of the exhibition. In order to meet the increasing demands of consumers around the world for automobiles, major Korean steel producers, including Posco and Hyundai Steel, are working on the development of such steel materials.
Pohang Steel's showroom consists of three themes, namely eco-energy, super-city and new mobility.
In the eco-energy exhibition area, visitors can take a look at the future of the city through the development of advanced steel materials, including the future city's application of environmentally friendly clean energy such as wind and solar energy. For example, PosWIND is one of Posco's main exhibits, made of bearing steel, with high durability, corrosion resistance and damage resistance. In addition, Posco's ultra-low temperature toughness high manganese steel has a manganese content of about 20%, which ensures that LNG (liquefied natural gas) is stored at an ultra-low temperature of minus 162 degrees Celsius. Posco's ultra-low temperature toughness high manganese steel has better performance and stronger cost competition in terms of yield strength and toughness at ultra-low temperature compared with existing alloy steel materials such as nickel and aluminum currently used for storage tank manufacturing. force.
In the Super City Zone, visitors can experience the impact of high-performance steel materials on people's future lives. High-performance hot-rolled steel is used in skyscraper construction, and PosCable (Posco) will be equipped on super-long bridges and super high-speed rails. Thanks to high-strength, lightweight steel materials, the maximum speed of future vehicles can reach 1,280 kilometers per hour.
In the new mobility exhibition area, Posco has demonstrated electric vehicle drive motors and Giga Steel. Among them, Posco's “Giga Steel” is known for its environmental protection and has outstanding performance in recycling and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
