How to face Low Sulphur Regulation
Nov. 11, 2019
From January 1st 2020, the new IMO (International Maritime Organization)2020 Low Sulphur Regulation will be in effect. To comply with the Regulation, sulphur in fuel oil must be reduced from 3.5% to 0.50%. This new regulation impacts shipping company, shipper and forwarder a lot. Foreign authoritative media points out that sea freight will rise about 20% at that time.
There are only not more than 100 days when IMO Low Sulphur Regulation effects. Following measures we should take at the moment:
Delivery goods as soon as possible before December to avoid high LSS fee.
For new order and quotation, when calculating sea freight, consider this matter (Low Sulphur Regulation). And also can inform client for this situation in advance.
