Global crude steel production increased by 0.6% year-on-year in August

On September 24, the World Steel Association (WSA) released data on global crude steel production for August. In August, the crude steel output of 64 countries and regions included in the World Steel Association's statistics was 156.2 million tons, an increase of 0.6% year-on-year, the first year-on-year increase in six months.
In August, crude steel production in Asia was 120 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%; EU crude steel production was 9.32 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 16.6%; North America crude steel production was 7.69 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 23.7%; South America crude steel production The output was 3.3 million tons, down 1.7% year-on-year; the crude steel output in the Middle East was 3.03 million tons, down 9.5% year-on-year; the crude steel output in the CIS was 7.93 million tons, down 6.2% year-on-year.
From the perspective of key countries and regions, in August, China's crude steel output was 94.85 million tons, an increase of 8.4% year-on-year; India's crude steel output was 8.48 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.4%; Japan's crude steel output was 6.45 million tons, a year-on-year decrease A decrease of 20.6%; South Korea’s crude steel output was 5.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.8%. Among EU countries, German crude steel production was 2.83 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13.4%; Italian crude steel production was 940,000 tons, an increase of 9.7% year-on-year; French crude steel production was 720,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 31.2%; Spanish crude steel production It was 700,000 tons, down 32.5% year-on-year. US crude steel production was 5.59 million tons, a decrease of 24.4% year-on-year. Crude steel production in the CIS region in August was 7.93 million tons, a decrease of 6.2% year-on-year; Ukrainian crude steel production was 1.83 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.7%. Brazil's crude steel output was 2.7 million tons, an increase of 6.5% year-on-year. Turkey's crude steel output was 3.24 million tons, an increase of 22.9% year-on-year.
