Finish rolling: the inner and outer surface of the steel tube in the back sequence is not machined, so the surface roughness is highly required, and the inner and outer diameter tolerance is within 10 wires.

Cold drawing: steel pipes need to be machined or deformed later, special shaped pipes, require high mechanical properties (such as automobile industry).

What are the advantages and disadvantages of finish rolling and cold drawing?

Advantages:

Surface is good, can achieve mirror effect

Internal and external diameter tolerance and concentricity are slightly better than cold drawing

Disadvantages

Large deformation, brittle cracking risk, poor mechanical properties than cold drawing

In rolling, it is easy to cover the internal defects of steel tube. Although three-roll finish rolling solves the problem of large deformation of finished products, it has high cost, large processing limitation and long processing time

advantages

The deformation is small, the finished product often needs to go through several times of cold drawing before forming, each deformation will go through annealing, pickling and other processes, perfect release residual stress, to ensure the quality of cold drawing. Usually only big manufacturing enterprises have such a complete set of equipment.

The processing technology is complicated, and it has high requirements on the manufacturers. Pickling, annealing and other recycling processes need to be strictly controlled. As far as we know, there are some manufacturers in order to save costs, they will save cost on annealing process.
