Common sense about steel making-part 1
Jul. 17, 2018
1. Ways to accelerate lime slag?
1 Improve the quality of lime, using soft-burning active lime.
2 Properly improve the composition of the flux
3 to increase the blowing temperature.
4 Control the appropriate gun position
5 using synthetic slag
2. Why should molten steel be deoxidized?
The molten steel is not deoxidized, and the correct solidification structure cannot be obtained by continuous casting. The high oxygen content in the steel also causes defects such as subcutaneous bubbles and looseness, and exacerbates the harmful effects of sulfur. The generated oxide inclusions remain in the steel, which reduces the mechanical properties such as plasticity and impact toughness of the steel. Therefore, it is necessary to remove excess oxygen from the steel.
3. What aspects should be prevented from explosive splashing during the blowing process?
1 Control the temperature of the molten pool.
2 Control (TFe) does not occur.
3 Do not drop the gun easily once the splashing process occurs.
4 When the furnace temperature is high, it is possible to appropriately add white ash thickening slag while lifting the gun.
4. What is the cause of damage to the lining?
1 Impact and mechanical wear of scrap steel and molten iron on the lining.
2 Stirring of molten steel and slag and gas flushing.
3 Chemical attack of the slag on the lining.
4 Cracking and flaking of lining temperature chilling, stimulating heat change and tissue change.
5 Mechanical peeling at the beginning of the furnace.
6 Oxidation of carbon inside the lining brick.
5. Briefly describe the characteristics and mineral composition of slag in the middle of smelting?
In the middle of smelting, the reaction of carbon and oxygen in the furnace is intense, and the slag is prone to “back to dry”. Its characteristics are high alkalinity and low ferrous oxide content. When the slag has a mineral composition: the main phase is dicalcium silicate and tricalcium silicate. When the lime is added, there is more free CaO. The higher the alkalinity, the larger the amount of tricalcium silicate, and the more free CaO, which is unfavorable for the smelting effect.
