Canada's investigation into the initiation of safeguard measures for imported steel products

On October 15, 2018, the WTO Commission on Safeguards issued a notice of the safeguards filed by the Canadian delegation on October 12, 2018. On October 11, 2018, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) initiated an investigation into the launch of safeguards for imported steel products including steel plates, concrete reinforcements and wire rods, and recommended temporary safeguards for the products involved ( See the table below for details. Exceeding the quota portion, a 25% surcharge will be imposed, valid for 200 days.
