About the Non-destructive Testing
Mar. 11, 2019
Tianjin Xinyue Steel is a steel pipe manufacturer with decades of production experience. When we provide steel pipes to customers, we not only control the production process for the production quality in the process, but also pay high attention to the inspection requirements in various production standards. All kinds of nondestructive and flaw detection tests are especially important for steel pipes. Today we would like to share some relevant information with you:
What is nondestructive testing / nondestructive testing
Non-destructive testing is a test method for checking the surface and internal quality of the tested parts without damaging the working state of the workpiece or raw materials.
What are the commonly used methods of flaw detection?
According to a survey conducted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, many non-destructive testing methods are considered to be divided into six categories and about 70 kinds. However, the following are common in practical applications.
Conventional non-destructive testing methods
-Ultrasonic Testing(UT);
-Radiographic Testing(RT);
-Magnetic particle Testing(MT);
-Penetrant Testing (PT);
-Eddy current Testing(ET);
Unconventional non-destructive testing technology
-Acoustic Emission(AE);
-Leak Testing(UT);
-Optical Holography;
-Infrared Thermography;
-Microwave Testing
What are the advantages and disadvantages of ultrasonic flaw detection compared with X-ray flaw detection?
Ultrasonic flaw detection has higher detection sensitivity, shorter cycle, lower cost, flexibility, high efficiency, and harmlessness to the human body than X-ray flaw detection. The disadvantage is that the inspection surface is smooth and requires experienced inspectors to identify the defect types. It is not intuitive for defects; ultrasonic flaw detection is suitable for inspection of parts with large thickness.
What are the applications for nondestructive testing?
Application timing: design stage; manufacturing process; finished product inspection; in-service inspection.
Application objects: various materials (metal, non-metal, etc.); various workpieces (welding parts, forgings, castings, etc.); various projects (road construction, dam construction, bridge construction, airport construction, etc.).
The purpose of non-destructive testing?
Improve the manufacturing process;
Reduce the manufacturing cost;
Improve the possibility of the product;
Ensure the safe operation of the equipment.
National and industry standards for ultrasonic testing
National standards and industry standards for ultrasonic testing are:
1, QB/T 12604.1–90 Non-destructive testing terminology Ultrasonic testing
2, JB/T 10061-1999 A type of pulse reflection ultrasonic flaw detector general technical conditions
3. JJG 746-91 Ultrasonic Flaw Detector National Metrology Verification Regulations of the People's Republic of China
Tianjin xinyue steel group, will be responsible for each customer, strict quality requirements for each steel pipe, to provide customers with high-quality products, we hope to contribute to the global construction of our strength!
